I offer a person-centred approach that is tailored for your specific needs. I don’t believe in offering a one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to my clients’ healing. I understand that everyone is unique and have different needs and they’re looking for support in different aspects of their life. This is why I will work with you to understand what you’re looking for and how I can utilise help. No matter what your presenting issue might be or what you’re looking to gain from therapy, I’ll work with you to get a comprehensive understanding of your needs and utilise my skills and experience to find the right therapeutic approach to help you get what you need. I work in a way that takes into consideration how early life and experiences may be influencing you presently. My work is underpinned by developmental, relational and trauma informed approaches.
I’m aware the first step can feel daunting and you may feel apprehensive, this is totally normal. Whether you’re looking for a few sessions or would like longer term therapy, I’ll be able to create a completely bespoke approach while working in a trauma informed way. This means I recognise how trauma impacts a person’s life and can often show up in unexpected ways. Thanks to my experience working with young people and children, I am able to offer my services to clients of all ages.
I have advanced trauma training and extensive experience working with adults, children and adolescents. I have worked extensively with children and young people as a lead counsellor in both primary and secondary schools for several years, I have also gained invaluable experience having worked for MIND, a sexual abuse charity, parenting project and within my own private practice.
I use a range of approaches including,
- Dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) skills training, which is an evidenced-based therapy and very effective in teaching young people skills to better manage their feelings and impulsive behaviours by teaching key skills such as mindfulness, emotional regulation and distress tolerance.
- I also utilise Cognitive behavioural therapy in order to help my clients become more aware of their thinking, emotions and behaviours in order to benefit their mental health more generally.
- For children, I offer play therapy, which incorporates toys and creativity to help them express what they’re struggling with. Along with Creative counselling, CBT for older Adolescents.
- I also offer Eye movement desensitisation Reprocessing therapy which can help with a range of mental health difficulties as well as trauma related issues.
